Full name: José Miguel Sánchez U.
He is an Economist graduate with Cum Laude distinction of the Universidad de Los Andes in 1994. He pursued a Joint Master in Environmental Economics and Natural Resources (UNIANDES, Colombia - University of Maryland, USA 1998). José Miguel Sánchez is also an Associate Professor of the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Sociales of the ULA, Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Económicas y Sociales (IIES) from 2003 to 2005, and Professor of the Postgraduate course in Economics of the ULA. He is Coordinator of the Environmental Physical Dimension of the Long Term Strategic Plan, Mérida 2020. José Miguel Sánchez was given the Researcher Incentive Award of the CDCHT-ULA in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007. He was classified as Level I to the Researcher Promotion Program (PPI) of the Fundación Venezolana de Promoción del Investigador – in 2007. Currently, he belongs to Unit of Urban and Regional Studies of the IIES of the Universidad de Los Andes.
