Full name: Ismael Ortiz Rojas

He is an Economist graduate of the Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) in 1967. He is a Specialist in Regional Economy, Social Accounting, and Macroeconomics. Also, Ismael Ortiz pursued postgraduate studies at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands, and at the Economics Institute, University of Colorado. Currently, he is a Titular Professor in the ULA, and he has acquired professional experience in Regional Economics (Planning, Regional Accounting, Impact Studies, Inflation, etc.). Ismael Ortiz is Coordinator of the Regional Studies Section of the IIES-ULA. Moreover, he is the author of: Competitiveness Analysis of the Motor Sectors of Mérida State Corresponding to the Small and Medium-Sized Industry and to the Artisan Micro-enterprises of the Long-Term Strategic Plan, Mérida 2020. Ismael Ortiz was given the Researcher Incentive Award of the CDCHT-ULA, 2001.
